Son of Shri Surat Singh Bragta; born on 15th September, 1952 at Shimla; Post Graduate; married to Smt. Pushpa Bragta; two sons; Agriculturist and Horticulturist.
General Secretary, Boys Parliament, D.A.V. School Shimla,1969; Vice-President Students’ Central Association, SDB College, Shimla, 1971; Member: H.P. University Court, 1973, ii) Board for Fruit Support Price, 1988, and iii) H.P.M.C. Board, 1990.Remained President: Janata Yuva Morcha, 1978-82, ii) Fruit Growers’ Association, District Shimla, iii) Kisan Morcha, Bhartiya Janata Party, 1991-98;General Secretary, Bhartiya Janata Party, District Shimla, 1983-87; Executve Member, State BJP, 1987-98; and National Secretary, Kisan Morcha , Bhartiya Janata Party, 1994-96.
Elected to State Legislative Assembly in 1998 from Shimla Constituency.Remained Minister of State for Horticulture (Independent Charge) from March 1998 to March 2003.
Returned to the Assembly in December 2007 but this time from Jubbal-Kotkhai Constituency; inducted in the Council of Ministers again as Horticulture Minister on 09-01-2008.
